Relevate Health has announced its acquisition of the pharma and life sciences division of Level Ex, a gaming company that develops interactive experiences for physicians. The division was previously owned by German medical device company Brainlab, which will retain Level Ex’s medtech unit.
The acquired unit, to be rebranded as “Level Ex Games Powered by Relevate Health,” creates game-based content for healthcare professionals (HCPs), aiming to enhance their training and engagement with pharmaceutical products. This content is used throughout various stages of marketing, including disease education, product launches, and the dissemination of new clinical data.
As part of the acquisition, 40 employees from Level Ex, including founder and CEO Sam Glassenberg, will join Relevate Health. Glassenberg, who previously worked at LucasArts and Microsoft, will continue to lead the gaming studio as an independent entity within Relevate.
Tim Pantello, CEO of Relevate Health, highlighted the strategic fit between the two companies. While Relevate leverages data-driven omnichannel approaches to engage HCPs, Level Ex provides immersive, interactive experiences through its video games. The combination, Pantello said, will allow the agency to offer unique engagement opportunities and deepen insights into physician behaviors.
The acquisition marks Relevate Health’s fourth in recent years, following previous purchases under the backing of private equity firm Mountaingate Capital.
